New Athletic Director For U.S.C. And Winning The Right Way

Written by Coach J on July 26, 2010 – 4:54 PM -

Congratulations to Pat Hayden on being named The University of Southern California’s new Athletic Director. Pat will replace outgoing Athletic Director  Mike Garrett who will be taking a retirement package from the university. In the midst of the recent NCAA sanctions the university will be facing, Pat is the right man in the right position at the right time to lead  U.S.C.’s proud and illustrious athletic department.

Pat Hayden is a successful businessman and has been a sports commentator for NBC Sports besides also being a Rhodes Scholar. As a quarterback for U.S.C. and in the National Football League, Pat is definitely a proven leader  and understands what winning and competing is all about. There is no doubt that U.S.C. has made the best choice to position their athletic department for achieving even more victories with the proper guidance that will insure all student athletes prospering on and off the field in the right way.

Most would agree that the recent sanctions imposed by the NCAA investigation was overly harsh and it could be argued that U.S.C. ‘s incredible winning streak made them a big target for the NCAA. The NCAA always had a history of sanctioning university’s that consistently win and turn their eye’s on schools that don’t win national championships even though most competitive universities with a competitive athletic program can be sanctioned at anytime since they all face the same situations with their athletes. The NCAA board needs to take a hard look at themselves and investigate if they are really insuring the best of interests of all student athletes or just their own interests and salaries.

Written by Betty J. Obrite on May 20, 2010 – 12:42 AM -

There are innumerable reasons as to why the whole world loves sports entertainment. Men and women love games with a passion whether engaging themselves or watching some other people play.

People are always developing and changing and the basic impulse is the survival of the fittest. Sports allow them to try their luck and endurance. People try and better themselves and take pleasure in competing with themselves as much as others. Human nature is such that it needs to triumph over others whether by exhausting work, luck or wit.

Everyone wants to exceed in life. Athletics are one way of getting something in one area of their lives either by backing a winning team or excelling themselves. It’s a brief satisfaction yet the loss is not as bad as they know that the competition goes on and it would be a matter of time and really hard work before they do one day win.

People are social by nature. Sports happens to be another way for them to join up with others like themselves. Helping a team would advance team spirit and brings them closer. The number of forums on the Internet reveals the need for people to discuss every single tiny detail of a game or a sports idol. Just like any other entertainment people love their idols and speaking about them.

Most people turn to various kinds of forms of entertainment to find excitement in their lives or to get away from their everyday realities. They can get away from the daily humdrum and for a while focus on a little something they truly enjoy bringing them laughter and fun in those few hours of a match. The hope that they will win or their team will win gives them something to look forward to in their lives.

Personal computer game inventors have realized that everyone enjoy winning or at least trying to win and they would keep trying sometimes obsessively to achieve that momentary satisfaction of having won something. People enjoy being competitive hence this is the reason that most computer games are also sports based. They enjoy defeating their opposing team and feeling better than others.

The challenge of a sport is what lures a large number of men and women to sports. They enjoy making the effort until they win and games including computer games are produced to challenge people in your head as well as physically. Most people want to win until they have succeeded in defeating everything in their way.

People follow the lives of their sport icons in the very same way as they would look towards super stars. They are in awe of what they have obtained physically in games crossing boundaries through physical endurance and skill. They try and seek perfection in others that may be deficient in them.

Seeing as the beginning of the world till today sports has dominated in terms of amusement and it will continue to do so. Men or women will continue to idolize their most enjoyable teams or sports icon who in their own right are celebrities. People will continue to throng arenas to watch a live match or sit at certain times to cheer on their teams from the comfort of their dwellings.

Be A Great Golfer

Written by Scott Frank on October 6, 2009 – 2:29 AM -

Prepare your hold. Veteran players will tell you that the force of your swivel banks on the force of your hold. A feeble hold will, more often than not, result in a feeble attempt. A feeble hold all through a powerful attempt will result inan unruly angle for the ball in action. Have the proper hold and you will have better handling over the ball.

Warm-ups are significant. “But it’s only golf,” you may utter, “all the actions I will do are limited to hitting the ball, marching to its new location, and hitting it once more.” Unfortunately, golf if more than that. Trust it or not, though golf is predominantly a psychological sport, it is also a sport that needs precise actions of the nerves. Only during preparations will you be able to loosen up your nerves for the challenges that lies ahead. Do some preliminary workouts- like brisk, stationary walks, stretches, and even plain joint rotations- prior to a game of golf and you’ll instantly see that the features of your body that ordinarily tenses up during stress-packed moments of the game will be gentler, more relaxed, and set to perform better.

Confirm the pulse required for each swing. Rythym pertains to the stability of the swing required by a specific shot. It includes the use of the proper quantity of force by correct changing of your power, as well as the steadiness of the movement minus unwanted pulls or twitches. No golfer is originally with the proper pace. Rythym is enhanced and completed with practice.

Blame the iron. Believe it or not, beginners in the sport undergo a poor game not because of the failures of their techniques solely, but also because of their pick of the incorrect irons for specific turns. There is a skill in picking the proper iron for a particular shot or putt. Learn this skill and you’ll be well on your way to being a good golfer.

Don’t fail to remember the follow up. You see basketball players with their follow up after releasing a shot. It’s not that actions after the shot influence the course of the same. It’s because considering about the follow up before it happens can actually enhance one’s pace. Golf, much the same as basketball and other sports, is a game of pace as well, and developing your own follow up can vastly improve your technique.
