Start Achieving Your Goals Now
Written by admin on July 14, 2010 – 1:56 AM -You have a dream. Maybe you want to climb Mt Everest, move to another country to earn money for your future, start your own business or even go back into the working world after spending a few years taking care of the kids.
Why aren’t you doing it? What’s holding you back?
Listen, a dream is a vision in our mind. Creative dreaming without action is a far-fetched realization to achieve goals.
Typical examples are the great wonders of the world, those landmarks that typify or define the greatness of nations. Landmarks like the Statue of Liberty of the United States of America, the Big Ben of England, the Taj Mahal of India, the Great Wall of China, and numerous more. Imagine if no one did anything about these great ideas, these dreams, will people from every nation on earth be able to enjoy them? What kind of achievement will each nation have if great thinkers just sit on their ideas and never acted on it. Absolutely nothing. We would probably be facing each other blankly wondering why and what went wrong?
Probably you’d say: “Oh… well… we still have the natural wonders like Niagara Falls, Mt. Fuji, beautiful coral reefs everywhere on earth.”. True… but these are God’s creations. God did not create man in His own image if He thinks we won’t be using our creativity and put it into action. He might as well take it away from us. He expects us to act on it. So what’s keeping us from doing something about our ideas? We can name a few. Fear of failure is what stops most people from achieving their goals. Fear of being ridiculed, fear of sinking further to a depressed state than we presently are, fear of totally losing all we’ve got if we don’t succeed, fear of taking risks. We all have to take risk at one time or another. Risk may come to us in a variety of reasons, big or small. There are risks we can do without, but there are risks that leave us no choice but to take action and do something about it.
As you can see, risks come in many forms. To make a comparison, let us consider two: risk similar to winning or losing when we gamble and risk in pursuit of a goal.
The risk involved in gambling is for non-thinkers. This is tantamount to luck risk, not good judgment risk. Risk of this kind has no room in goal realization. It is like ignoring safety on the road, just for kicks, come what may, short-lived, to satisfy a craving.
However, risk in pursuit of a goal has a definite lasting purpose, a purpose that will bring untold benefits once you achieve your personal lifetime goals. It is a risk worth taking for thinkers, not for happy-go-lucky non-thinkers. Risk in pursuit of a goal will bring stability and security in life, ultimately leading to happiness.
Whenever fear grips us, think positively. Look at it this way. Will we ever get anywhere if we don’t take the risk to act on our dreams? Will we be happy about not taking action now, five, ten, or twenty years from now? If you notice, there is one common denominator that is holding us back from acting on our dreams, it’s called fear. Fear is the biggest stumbling block to acting on a creative dream that it practically holds everything still. So it is important that we eliminate fear in our feelings to clear the way to our goal.
To overcome this fear, we have to face fear on the face, eye to eye, mano y mano. Let us take a very familiar example, say you have a fear of speaking in public. I guess a majority of us do. Worst scenario that could happen is you will get tongue-tied and ruin your entire speech in spite of having memorized the entire thing. You become the laughing stock of the audience. Don’t let it prevent you from speaking in public the next time around because if you do, fear has won over you and you will be cowering in this kind of fear for the rest of your life. To win over fear, draw lessons from your failure and capitalize on it the next time around. Don’t stop till you have successfully made a good speech. Once you do, you have actually turned the table around. This time, it is fear that fears you.
Another example with a somewhat different twist, say you are a lifeguard and you failed to save a drowning person who apparently should have been saved. Now this is a big failure because a life was at stake here. In spite of this, don’t give up being a lifeguard just because of one mistake. Think about the other lives you have saved before and will be saving if you continue to do so. Suppose you were able to save someone in an otherwise hopeless situation, doesn’t earn you brownie points for all the previous failure that happened?
The idea here is to give your best. Once you give your best, it just doesn’t get any better because it is already the best.
When you act on your dreams, think of your actions in a positive way. What you think is what will happen. What the mind can conceive, the body can achieve. Believe that the likely outcome of a thing that we do depends a lot on how we set our mind on it. Our actions start from our thoughts and the result that we get is determined by our mind as well. If we think it will fail, it will. If we think it will succeed, it will. Mental thinking or attitude is the master of the actions we undertake. Where your mental attitude is directed for a longer period of time, it is more difficult to change to change direction. If your mind is programmed to think negative thoughts, the more difficult it will be to change to positive thoughts if you do not do something about it immediately. However, if your mind is already programmed to think positive thoughts, it will remain steadfast on this attitude as time goes by. Defeat is imminent if your thoughts are in this direction. You may say: “I told you so” that an action has failed because you think it will, just to satisfy yourself when in fact, you are just looking for an excuse or easy way out. The end result is still a failure and what does that make you, a failure. You are just fooling yourself.
On the other hand, success is imminent when your thoughts say it will. Even if it fails the first time, you will learn from your failure and then try again. You will ultimately succeed as you gain more experience. Keep on trying and persevering. There should be no let up and when success is at hand, you would have defeated defeat.
Here’s another nugget of thought. When you go all out and risk everything, there is nothing left to risk. When that happens, the only thing waiting for you is success. Don’t give up your dreams without even fighting for them just because the risks are too great.
The greater the risk, the bigger the reward and success is sweeter. Either way, whether you achieve your dream or not, you will come out a better person from the experience.

The Best Technique For Avoiding Procrastination
Written by Coach J on October 26, 2009 – 8:54 AM -One of the biggest reasons people fail in life or business is due to procrastination. Many people fall victim to this recurring habit. It can be a daunting task to get rid of procrastination but there is one technique that works great for avoiding procrastination.
Simply clear your mind of distractions and focus on your most immediate priorities. At this point most will be distracted by something that is perceived to be more enjoyable or less stressful. This pattern becomes eventually becomes a habit and then most will repeat this process over and over without ones most important priorities ever getting completed. The longer a person avoids completing their most important priorities the harder it will be to finish the tasks.
The solution is to think about your greatest loss for not facing your most important priorities and what it will cost to keep procrastinating. At this point some might think of the perceived value of money that may be lost. The thought of losing money or business for not getting an important task completed can be a big motivator but there is still a more vital element that one can lose due to procrastination. The time that it will cost to you in the end to complete the task. You can always get more money but you can never get back the time that you lost due to procrastination.
If a person focuses on the value of the time that they have in relation to what it could cost them to procrastinate then they can be more determined to eliminate procrastination from their life.

Subconscious Mind Power – A Means To An End
Written by Graham J Milne on October 5, 2009 – 2:55 AM -If you’ve ever seen the old movie, “Field of Dreams,” you might remember the saying, “If you build it, they will come.” You have your own field of dreams, and that is your subconscious mind. In this case, “If you think it, it will come.”
See, the power to create the life of your dreams, to change the person you are, to change the way things are in your life is all in your mind. The power of the mind is a beautiful thing, honestly. The mind has the power to heal us, to transcend us to make us feel good or make us feel bad. The subconscious mind power that each of us have is enough to completely change the world if we all would only take control of that power.
If you’re skeptical, you’re not alone. However, give me a chance to show you with a few examples just how powerful your mind is. One of my favorite examples is actually from the medical field, and works on a scientific basis. It’s been documented time and time again, actually, and it’s called the “placebo effect.” The medical field has coined the term “placebo effect” to denote a specific type of effect. Oftentimes, for example, this term is used during medical trials. The control group is given a “placebo,” which is an inert substance that has no medical benefit whatsoever as a drug might give. It’s used as a counterpoint to the other group, which gets the actual medication. This is to clearly prove any benefit (or detriment) the drug itself might give. However, both groups are told what the medication is for and what it should do for them, and neither group knows which pill they’ve gotten; placebo or actual medication.
Most studies have shown at least some of what is called the “placebo effect.” That is, at least some of the people in the placebo group have shown “effects” from the “drug,” even though they’ve actually gotten a placebo. That is, their subconscious minds decided that they had gotten the drug and produced some of the same benefits and side effects as they were told the actual medication would give them. Simply, these patients believed they had gotten the medication, so their subconscious minds produced the medication’s effects to at least some degree.
Think about this in your own situation. Perhaps you haven’t been involved in any medical trials, but when you go to the doctor, are you told a specific medication is going to give you side effects? If the doctor minimizes side effects to you, don’t be surprised. A doctor knows how powerful one’s mind is, and may actually think telling you will cause side effects; through the power of your subconscious mind. Therefore, a doctor may minimize these negative things, in the hopes that you won’t experience them. Suggesting them, in other words, may increase your chances of having side effects. And of course, they also want you to be compliant with taking the medication, so that’s another reason to minimize the negative effects of the drug.
The power of suggestion combined with subconscious mind power equals incredibly powerful results. If this works in the medical realm, why can’t it work in the everyday realm of your life? What is preventing you from tapping into your mind power and positively changing your life? Some people use the power of suggestion to change the way their subconscious mind works.
Others though use visualization to alter the way their mind sees things. Visualization is simple, and it works. Visualization can be done a couple of ways. First you close your eyes and visualize what it is you want, actually see it as if you are looking at a picture.
Another way to use your subconscious mind to change your reality is to actually find or create a physical picture. Let’s say, for example, that you want a specific kind of new car. Find a picture of that car in a magazine, or better yet, have a friend take a picture of you standing by that car. Hang that picture up where you can see it every day. The more you see it, the more you will imprint that vision of yourself with the car you want in your subconscious mind. And because your subconscious mind is so powerful, it will eventually make that become a reality.
People have known about the power of the subconscious mind for many years, and many have used it to their benefit. Only recently, though, has science begun to understand how very real this process is.
A scientific field called quantum physics has shown that matter is no longer solid at the subatomic level and simply becomes pure energy. And, quantum physics has shown that the mind can actually manipulate this energy. In fact, quantum physics has actually proven that the energy itself does not exist UNLESS it is observed.
What does that mean? Matter or energy exists because it is observed, and for no other reason. It is the mind of the observer that makes the matter exist, and not the other way around. In short, matter; and reality itself; is actually a creation of the mind. This is truly “subconscious mind power” at its essence.
Ancient religions have known this for thousands of years, but modern science has finally jumped on board with this knowledge, too, since the advent of quantum physics. Therefore, no matter your spiritual mindset, you can’t deny that quantum physics proves the power of the mind.
So now, let’s go back to our original question. If you could change your life just by changing the way you think, would you? You can if you only harness the power of your subconscious mind. Use your subconscious mind to YOUR advantage, instead of letting it have control of you. Try it; spend the next week or so using visualization techniques or affirmations (or a combination of both) to get what you want. Start small so that you can get acclimated to this new power. Once you see that it works, change your life by changing the way you think;literally. Develop the power your subconscious mind, sit back, and watch what happens.

Achieving Work Life Balance
Written by Jennifer Pereira on October 2, 2009 – 2:43 AM -Do you ever feel your work life balance is off? The key to living well is finding this balance. You may find one part of your life is going great, but another area is awful. You may even feel like you have it all, but feel confused by the fact you still do not feel happy.
You probably feel like you are juggling a dozen balls, with your job, kids, spouse, health, etc. It feels as if at any moment you will start to drop some of these balls. While our society emphasizes success in some areas, it neglects many others. Your identity can become the work you do. What good is it to be financially successful if you still feel unhappy. You may find yourself turning to medication, therapy, and rehab to simply survive in this world.
Work life balance tends to be the most obvious area in need of improvement. The work you do requires a huge chunk of your time and energy. It can feel like it really takes over your whole life. You cannot allow it to keep you from attending to other critical areas of your life. Work really only provides two things:
–The financial means to give you what you really want (time with family, ability to travel, retirement, etc.),
–It can provide a sense of purpose, especially if you are doing something you feel makes an impact.
You have to keep work in its proper place. It is not your whole life, unless you are married to the church. You can easily fall into the habit of focusing on work and putting life on hold until you have reached some career goal. The problem with this is there is always another goal to achieve.
As you are sitting here now, you must commit to start really living. This will require a major shift in self awareness. This doesn’t come easily in our culture. We drink, eat, shop and work in excess to keep ourselves from any kind of contemplation. You may be frightened of what you might find when you take a look inside yourself.
But being aware of your inner needs is critical to developing life balance. You must begin to use your internal compass to tell you when to play barbies with your child, take a nap, or pay attention to your spouse. It is easy for you to stay disconnected–isolation and independence are pillars of our society. Connecting requires a certain amount of vulnerability and openness. But bonding with others is a fundamental key to happiness.
The connection with yourself may be the most important of all. You are probably very disconnected to yourself even if most of the time you are alone. It is common for you to want to do one thing, but have your brain telling you that you ‘should’ do something more productive. If you don’t do what you ‘should’ do, you will find yourself miserable with guilt.
When you take away all of the ‘shoulds’, you begin to see how effective your internal compass really is. You have to stop ‘shoulding’ all over yourself if you hope to ever really find work life balance.
